About The Position

Telluride Ski Resort is committed to maintaining safe mountain operations and a high-quality guest experience. We are currently accepting applications for qualified On-Mountain Medical Care Providers to support on-mountain medical coverage on a temporary basis as part of contingency planning related to a labor dispute with the Communication Workers of America Local 7781, United Mountain Workers. These are temporary positions intended to support business continuity and guest safety during this period. Depending on operational needs and individual performance, future opportunities may be available. Position Summary On-Mountain Medical Care Providers will deliver basic life support–level assessment and stabilization for injured guests while on the mountain. Providers will function as part of an integrated response team alongside other resort personnel. This role is strictly medical in scope and does not include sled transport, avalanche mitigation, or patrol enforcement duties.

Requirements

  • Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC)
  • Emergency Medical Technician (any level)
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Physician (MD or DO)
  • Applicants without one of the above credentials may be considered if they provide detailed documentation of relevant medical training and experience for review.
  • Ability to ski beginner and intermediate terrain safely and confidently
  • Adequate physical conditioning for mountain operations at altitude
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable winter conditions
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessment and stabilization to a basic life support level
  • Provide spinal immobilization, wound care, splinting, and general stabilization
  • Administer oxygen when indicated; no other medications will be administered on scene
  • Work collaboratively with certified ski patrollers and designated response teams
  • Accompany patients to designated rendezvous points or medical facilities as required
  • Provide verbal handoff reports to receiving medical or EMS personnel
  • Follow established radio, response, documentation, and safety protocols

  • Hourly pay $24.50–$37.50 per hour, based on medical training

  • Housing and meals will be provided for providers traveling from outside the immediate Telluride region.
