On-Call Transit Scheduler We have a career opportunity for an experienced transit scheduler to join our Florida division, specifically supporting our transit planning and operations group. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience with and expertise in one or more of the primary transit fixed route scheduling platforms such as, HASTUS, Trapeze FX, Optibus, Remix, related modules and systems like Clever Devices. Experience with paratransit scheduling packages such as Trapeze Pass, GIRO, CTS, Ecolane, Trip Spark, QRyde, is also desirable. Experience with mobility-on-demand (microtransit) software-as-a-service is also another area of interest. Access to transit agency clients and previous experience in transit operational planning is desirable. Location This position will be fully remote but could be hybrid if located in Florida near Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Miami, or Tampa. The Impact You Will Have Provide scheduling support to a variety of transit agencies on an as-needed basis.

Requirements

  • Previous experience performing scheduling for one or more public transit agencies
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field is not required
  • Understanding of transit scheduling concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Strong technical and analytical skills

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating data and adjusting transit schedules to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and equity of schedules
  • Using Hastus, Trapeze or other scheduling software to define routes, assign bus stops, develop blocks, develop runcuts, and create rosters in accordance with transit service standards and the collective bargaining agreement
  • Formulating runcutting alternatives, evaluate alternatives, and recommend preferred options
  • Using available technology such as Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) and Automatic Passenger Counters (APCs) to monitor schedule adherence, ridership, and other key metrics
  • Monitoring performance metrics to adjust schedules for efficiency and equity
  • Reviewing draft public schedules for errors prior to final publication
  • Training agency scheduling staff
  • Coordinating with Operations and Customer Service staff on schedule changes.
  • Create and/or updates documentation for internal policies, processes, and standard operating procedures
