Under general supervision, performs public transportation and paratransit (Americans with Disabilities Act) scheduling, routing and dispatching duties; operates a variety of communication equipment, including two-way radio, telephone, computer mobile dispatch terminal and scheduling systems; creates, maintains and monitors computerized driver manifests/schedules; and responds to requests for service and provides a variety of information to passengers and the general public. Communicate with the public, employees, management and vendors in person or by telephone which includes answering calls, troubleshooting calls or taking messages as situation dictates and provide information to citizens and employees as needed. Schedule trips using authorized departmental scheduling software. Dispatch and relay information to drivers. Supervise morning scheduler(s)/dispatcher(s). Manage paratransit eligibility program. Maintain all files for accuracy and compliance with FTA requirements. Assist in gathering, sorting, copying and organizing data. Establish and maintain all active and inactive files, which include trip scheduling records, vehicle inspection reports and other general departmental correspondence. Assist Transit Administration with special projects as assigned. Cancel customer trips, at customer request, using authorized departmental scheduling software. Assist in updating PEP questions and departmental business plan. Must be able to communicate effectively by two-way radio and telephone. Must have the ability to schedule buses effectively and efficiently. Must be familiar with City streets and have knowledge of City establishments. Must possess knowledge of secretarial duties and be able to handle a variety of interruptions while continuing to follow through with a project or routine assignments. Must be able to prioritize and move from one project to another as needed. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of modern office methods, practices and procedures. Must act in a professional, helpful manner, particularly in stressful situations. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and the ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to handle confidential information that is not open for discussion or public knowledge. Must be able to sit 7 hours daily; twist 2 hours daily; stand 1 hour daily; bend, stoop, turn and walk 30 minutes daily. Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 10 lbs. 15 minutes daily. Must be able to tolerate temperature changes, vibration due to nearby trains and dust. Must have good reaching ability. Must have good finger dexterity. Must have good hearing and sight, including good depth perception and color vision. Must be able to work with others or alone. Other duties as assigned.
