On Call Security Officer/Medical Responder

About The Position

This position will fill in as needed for BOTH of these roles: As a Flex Officer; you will be filling in and on call; must have the availability and flexibility to assume post and take on shifts when needed. Shifts will include all shifts morning, afternoon, evening and overnight on weekdays and weekends • Medical/Security Patrol: Will patrol campus and respond to Independent Living PET (resident personal safety alarms), Pull Cords, and Emergency calls on campus. You will receive basic medical training to respond while nursing team or local EMT is on the way. • Welcome Center/Gate House: Will respond to calls, verify visitors, ensure appropriate credentials, provide directions, contact patrol team for dispatch purposes, maintain gatehouse logs, etc. Status Non-Exempt Job Relationships Reports to the Security Supervisor and works closely with the Nursing Department.

Requirements

  • Must be able to provide warmth and welcome to residents, family members, staff, and emergency personnel.
  • Must be able to respond calmly and with good decision-making in emergency situations and medical response scenarios.
  • Must be flexible with working hours.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and direction giving skills.
  • The ability to read, write, understand, and speak English.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years’ experience preferred in security or similar background, and dealing with customers.
  • NC Driver’s License and pass company MVR check. Demonstrated safe driving record.
  • Must have current First Aid/CPR/AED certification or obtain certification within the first 3 months of employment and maintain these certifications throughout employment at Arbor Acres.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously patrols neighborhoods by vehicle and foot when not engaged in dispatch calls.
  • Checks on buildings and equipment when concerns arise or on scheduled basis.
  • Responds to Wanderguard door checks.
  • Supports parking at events and manages traffic. Also reports or notifies those not driving safely.
  • Responds promptly to all IL emergency and PET/PC calls.
  • Assesses need to call in outside support (911). Contacts 911 if appropriate and Nursing (immediately for any situation requiring CPR.)
  • Provides care permitted through scope of practice training.
  • Documents each emergency call in the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Monitors fire alarms, cameras, and all emergency codes.
  • Responds to unlocks, escorts, direct traffic, and other forms of support.
  • Performs light maintenance duties after hours and on weekends when maintenance is not scheduled, including but not limited to: shutting off water, helping with TVs/remotes, changing light bulbs, plunging sinks/toilets.
  • Helps with snow removal if needed.
  • Greets residents, staff and visitors.
  • Monitors and enforces security requirements at gate, signing in visitors and contacting residents or staff if unsure if an individual should be permitted onsite. Monitors Aldersgate entrance remotely for resident and guest access.
  • Provides directions to visitors.
  • Responds to calls and questions.
  • Completes various logs and audits as directed.
  • Maintains communication between security patrol, maintenance, and residents after hours regarding maintenance issues.
  • Will enforce gate access by signing in visitors and non-resident.
  • Monitors remote door access and allows access after hours.
  • Provides reports and camera footage as needed to support investigations or concerns.
  • Monitors weather radio for severe weather. In case of severe weather, security will alert nurses and aid in decision-making for the safety of residents and staff.
