About The Position

The Driver is responsible for the safe and timely pick up and drop off of student/staff/faculty passengers to and from off-campus parking, housing and field trips. The Driver will be operating a 9 passenger 100% electric van, owned and maintained by The Culinary Institute of America (“CIA”). It is the responsibility of the Driver to guarantee that the van is always clean and in proper working condition.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Demonstrated exceptional driving experience with a clean driving record.
  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License.
  • Ability to effectively communicate; good written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to be adaptable and dependable.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to show a high level of service responsiveness to student/staff/faculty passengers and effective partnership with colleagues, as well as the ability to determine when situations require escalation or may be handled independently.
  • Must be able to work a schedule with some flexibility (including overtime) when requested.
  • Regular work requires a great deal of sitting for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Able to bend, stoop or reach as needed.
  • May be subject to random drug testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience driving.

Responsibilities

  • Provide transportation to CIA passengers to and from off-campus parking and housing.
  • On occasion, provide transportation to CIA passengers to off-campus locations for field trips.
  • Maintain charges to the vehicle(s).
  • Perform vehicle pre-trip inspections and fill out inspection report daily.
  • Operate the vehicle(s) safely and in compliance with all traffic laws, rules and regulations.
  • Report traffic violations/accidents/incidents to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • In emergencies, evacuate passengers in accordance with established procedures.
  • Notify supervisor of any maintenance or service repairs needed on vehicle(s).
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness (inside and out).
  • Maintain an accurate daily vehicle log.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.
