About The Position

Clerical Position to oversee and schedule all of the monthly and yearly appeals scheduled into the Assessment Office. Secretary to the Board of Assessment Appeals as well as various data entry of mass appraisal information. Assist general public with basic property inquiries.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer literacy with ability to learn new software.
  • Work experience in general office duties including data entry work, answering phones and customer service.
  • Proficient with time management, Organizational Skills.
  • Working knowledge of basic Math and Geometry skills
  • Exceptional Phone Skills

Responsibilities

  • Receive, track, and schedule hearings for all monthly and yearly appeal requests that are submitted to the Lancaster County Assessment Office.
  • Work closely with Owners, Attorneys and other 3rd party applicants to coordinate schedules to complete appeal tracking and resolve any time conflicts that may occur.
  • Handle and verify the correct amounts of all monies that are submitted with all appeals and receipt them to be taken to Treasurers Department.
  • Attend monthly Board of Assessment Appeals meetings and type and disperse minutes to proper personnel for County Website.
  • Explain in detail the pertinent record info of tax parcels to taxpayers and the public at large.
  • Use a sketch tool program function to create digital sketches of properties for assessment data for updating tax records.
  • Use field maintenance sheets to enter and update property record information in the computer for a subset of parcels in the County.
  • Understanding inter-office workings and assessment operations in order to assist with public inquiries.
  • At times, may include some cross-training of other duties, in order to cover for other staff during lunch periods and/or vacations.
