About The Position

The Texas Ambassadors (formerly Texas Tour Guides and Texas Student Recruiters) serve as representatives of The University of Texas at Austin and the Office of Admissions by providing campus tours, assisting with admissions events and initiatives, phone call projects and supporting operations within the Covert Admissions Welcome Center and Main 7.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate student at The University of Texas at Austin
  • Maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
  • Have and maintain good academic and judicial standing at the university.
  • Desire to serve as a representative of the University to students and families from various backgrounds.
  • Comfort speaking with large and small groups as well as engaging in one-on-one conversations.
  • Experience providing customer service.
  • Ability to be flexible and energetic in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to complete all required training and attend team meetings.
  • Must be able to work both the Spring and Summer 2026 Semester.
  • Commitment Texas Ambassadors are expected to work a minimum of two (2) three-hour shifts per week (Monday-Friday). In addition to regular shifts scheduled at the Covert Admissions Welcome Center and/or Main 7 including some weekend and nights.
  • Paid staff trainings and meetings throughout the semester.

Responsibilities

  • Showcase campus and student life through campus walking tours for prospective students, families, and other guests.
  • Communicate with prospective students and families throughout the college search and enrollment process via phone, text, email, and other methods.
  • Serve as panelists, lead presentations, and serve as student hosts for on and off campus events for prospective and admitted students.
  • Provide logistical support for events and the campus visit program by assisting with tasks such as event set up and take down.
  • Support operations of the Covert Admissions Welcome Center and/or Main 7 by greeting and assisting visitors and completing office tasks such as data entry or creating visitor and event packets.
  • Drive university vehicle, conditional only if student has valid Texas Driver’s License
