About The Position

Provides administrative and clerical support for Noninvasive Cardiology staff, Physicians and other support staff. Primary responsibilities include analyzing general office procedure, ordering office supplies, effective communications to clinical staff, greeting and checking in patients, answering phones, scheduling patient appointments including obtaining medical records from external physician offices/facilities. This role is Monday-Friday day shift.  DESCRIPTION OF REVELANCE AND IMPACT TO PATIENT CENTERED-CARE: Ensuring efficient coordination of outpatient and inpatient Noninvasive Cardiology testing appointments. Promoting a seamless transition of information from SHMG referral source through the hospital outpatient testing location is a primary responsibility. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in a Business and/or Health Care Administration related field
  • office experience preferably in a health care setting preferred.
  • Computer proficiency required especially in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, procedural and diagnosis coding required.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, a professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with Stamford Hospital policies and the ability to provide top notch customer service to patients, their families, the public and co-workers.
  • Demonstrated capacity to function as a member of a multi-tasking team.

Responsibilities

  • Registration
  • Completes pre-registration of new referrals and determines need for insurance verifications, attaining pre-certifications and referrals for testing when required.
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of Epic registration and scheduling systems.
  • Obtains proper signatures, witnesses documents as indicated.
  • Explains Notice of Privacy practices to patients.
  • Sets up charts for clinical staff.
  • Review and recommend process changes for improved efficiency.
  • Scheduling
  • Calls patient to schedule appointment when required.
  • Schedules appointments demonstrating proficiency in Epic.
  • Provides staff with timely information on cancellations and add ons.
  • Support other areas in this capacity when required.
  • Reception Support
  • Greets all patients in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Escorts or directs patients to and from treatment rooms and rest rooms as needed.
  • Provides information to callers, routes calls as appropriate, takes clear and concise messages.
  • Checks messages promptly and returns calls or refers messages to appropriate person
  • Clerical Duties
  • Sends faxes and delivers received faxes to appropriate individual promptly.
