The Dental Program collaborates closely with various community partners, focusing on underserved populations across Multnomah County to ensure access to comprehensive dental services, including education, prevention, and treatment. The Office Assistant 2 will serve as the crucial first point of contact for clients visiting our Dental clinic site, providing exceptional customer service. This is a high-volume, fast-paced setting where the ability to multitask and efficiently utilize several computer systems is vital to our clinic operations. The ability to provide services in Chinese and English languages is preferred. As a designated Essential Employee, this position is crucial for public health and safety, as defined under Multnomah County Personnel Rule 3-15-015. The employee is required to report for duty even if the County decides to close or reduce other county operations.

Requirements

  • Education/ training equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
  • One (1) to four (4) years general office support or customer service experience dealing directly with the public.
  • Must obtain a BLS/ CPR within 30 days of hire.
  • Must pass a reference check.

  • Previous experience with Epic Practice Management (or similar electronic health/dental record systems).

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and/or verify demographics, race and ethnicity information and insurance coverage utilizing multiple databases; update registration and accounts in Epic Practice Management.
  • Collect patient co-pays and payments following established cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Review priority messages and take appropriate follow-up action; distribute forms and documents to patients; ensure all forms are complete, signed, entered into EDR (Electronic Dental Record).
  • Greet patients/guests; provide information and direct patients to services; answer incoming calls, and confirm appointments.
  • Act as liaison with treatment staff and providers; monitor provider schedules
  • Document patient related issues in EPIC.
  • Process pre-authorizations and referrals as requested.
  • Support emergency or last-minute schedule changes or additions, as needed or required.
