About The Position

Reports to: Assistant Plant Manager at Steel Job Overview: Aid business unit leadership and individual departments in identifying, analyzing, planning, implementing, auditing and controlling safety and lean practices/philosophies that support company goals. Areas of Accountability: Demonstrate honest and ethical behavior in all business transactions Embrace and drive change Be respectful of PDM teammates and support teamwork amongst coworkers Learn and understand existing company safety policies and procedures and promote compliance Lead OE initiatives SOP development across the organization Manage root cause and investigation process with respect to near misses and accidents Responsibilities and Duties: Contribute to operations strategy development Employ lean methodology and analytics into the organization Continuously measure and monitor processes, risks and controls by conducting post-implementation reviews and project follow up Mange OE budgets for all business units Help business unit leaders identify/prioritize initiatives and develop themes and rocks Lead multiple rocks concerning OE and safety Mange OE program including documentation, auditing, budgets, training, implementation and benefit analysis Train and encourage employees to choose practices that will contribute to a safer work environment. As part of this process, inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure safety regulation compliance Submit reports to Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and other relevant organizations. Advocate for safer work equipment, materials, and supplies Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment Prepare written safety and health programs and policies Identify company safety training needs and develop and coordinate safety training programs Participate in new product/process reviews and provide input for safety and health considerations. This includes performing process hazard analyses and generating operator training Audit practices and records of manufacturing plants to ensure compliance with company programs and federal/state occupational safety and health regulations Ability to travel to all facilities and jobsites Management Responsibilities: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the company. Qualifications: Education: 2-4 year degree in related field Experience: 2+ years of functional and technical project related work, development and implementation of processes and systems, 5+ years of manufacturing Knowledge and Skills: Advanced Microsoft skills Blue Beam Prefer Lean and Six Sigma training/certifications Ability to work directly with Senior Leadership Be present and can tailor communication and messaging with varying levels of the organization Travel Requirements: Ability to travel to all facilities and jobsites DISCLAIMER The above information on this description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification. Requirements
