Provides occupational therapy-based services to assigned caseload consistent with students’ documented therapy goals, including those defined in areas of instructional and therapeutic focus and/or Individualized Education Program (IEP). Develops and implements safe and appropriate therapeutic interventions. Provides assessment, mandate recommendations, and intervention in related school-based areas of occupation (participation in academics, play/leisure, vocational, and self-care skills) and appropriately documents or updates annual therapy goals for students, as needed. Evaluates, documents and monitors provision of service and student progress in a timely manner in line with policies of organization, governing bodies and in language comprehensible to caregivers. Regularly communicates and collaborates with parents, school staff across all disciplines and medical professionals regarding health, equipment use, participation in activities, positioning, feeding and other relevant factors, as needed. Fabricates, maintains, modifies and monitors use of adaptive equipment and orthotics and trains school staff regarding interventions involving AT or other equipment. Assists with assessments related to assistive technology (AT) and/or durable medical equipment (DME) needs, including participation in clinics, documenting medical necessity, obtaining measurements, working with providers, facilitating orders, coordinating with vendors for delivery, fittings, etc. as needed. Attends and participates in scheduled supervision, department meetings and activities. Responsible for maintaining office and therapy room organization. Performs all other duties, as assigned.
