About The Position

The Occupational Health Specialist supports the implementation and execution of occupational health and industrial hygiene programs within a manufacturing environment. This role assists in identifying, evaluating, and controlling workplace health hazards through exposure monitoring, workplace assessments, and collaboration with operations and engineering teams. The Occupational Health Specialist supports industrial hygiene monitoring activities, ergonomic assessments, health program administration, and regulatory compliance efforts while helping promote a proactive safety and health culture across the facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Public Health, Engineering, or related field required
  • 1+ years of experience supporting occupational health, industrial hygiene, or safety programs within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Working knowledge of OSHA occupational health standards and industrial hygiene principles
  • Ability to assist with exposure monitoring and interpret basic sampling data
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate monitoring records and documentation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees and cross-functional teams
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • MS Office Suite proficiency
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support production operations
  • Comfortable working in a team-based manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following PPE for a period of up to 12 hours: Safety glasses Steel-toed shoes Nitrile gloves Ear protection Cleanroom suit
  • Must be able to perform the following activities repeatedly for periods of up to 12 hours: Lift, push, and pull materials or equipment Stoop, twist, and bend Reach overhead Sit and/or stand for extended periods Use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, and computer systems
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or other occupational health and safety credentials are preferred but not required.
  • May be required to respond to after-hours operational issues or emergency events in support of facility infrastructure, utilities systems, or safe plant operations.
  • Experience assisting with exposure monitoring, workplace inspections, or industrial hygiene sampling activities preferred
  • Experience supporting OSHA compliance programs or health-related safety initiatives preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support industrial hygiene monitoring programs including air sampling, noise monitoring, and evaluation of chemical or physical exposure hazards
  • Conduct exposure monitoring activities such as air sampling, noise dosimetry, and other industrial hygiene sampling under established procedures
  • Assist with the collection, documentation, and maintenance of occupational exposure monitoring data and records
  • Maintain exposure monitoring logs and ensure required documentation is maintained in accordance with OSHA and company requirements
  • Support evaluation of exposure data and assist in identifying potential workplace health risks
  • Assist in conducting ergonomic assessments for production and administrative roles
  • Evaluate workstation layout, manual handling tasks, and repetitive motion exposures and assist in identifying improvement opportunities
  • Support implementation of ergonomic improvements and corrective actions in collaboration with engineering and operations teams
  • Conduct routine health and safety inspections to identify workplace health hazards or unsafe conditions
  • Assist with Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and workplace risk assessments
  • Participate in incident investigations involving occupational illness, chemical exposure, or ergonomic injury
  • Assist in identifying root causes and supporting corrective action implementation
  • Support administration of occupational health programs including: Respiratory Protection Hearing Conservation Hazard Communication PPE programs
  • Assist with maintaining program documentation, monitoring records, and training documentation
  • Support employee training related to industrial hygiene topics, hazard communication, ergonomics, PPE, and health-related safety programs
  • Assist with new hire orientation and contractor safety training activities
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to address workplace health hazards
  • Participate in routine line walks to identify at-risk behaviors, unsafe conditions, or potential health hazards
  • Support evaluation of new processes, chemicals, or materials for potential occupational health risks
  • Assist the EH&S team during regulatory inspections and audits by preparing documentation and supporting information requests
  • Participate in emergency response planning activities and drills
  • Support documentation and follow-up activities related to chemical spills, exposure events, or occupational health incidents
  • Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management system activities as applicable
  • This position supports essential manufacturing operations and may require working day or night shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and reporting to work during emergency situations, inclement weather events, or other operational disruptions when it is safe to do so.
