About The Position

The M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing seeks applicants for the position of Nursing Student Success Coach. This individual collaborates with the faculty and administration to identify nursing students at risk for academic challenges to provide targeted academic interventions. The Nursing Student Success Coach uses a strong foundation in nursing theory and clinical practice to explain concepts accurately and relate them to real-world scenarios to support students' success. This includes individualized coaching and tutoring on nursing course content, developing and delivering content-focused workshops and programs to contribute to student success. The Nursing Student Success Coach conducts exam reviews to analyze performance on test items and to teach critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills. The Nursing Student Success Coach supports students with effective study and test taking strategies, and assists students with NCLEX preparation study planning. This role guides probationary students in fulfilling study plan requirements and requires documentation of interactions and sessions with students. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in nursing
Minimum of three (3) years of recent clinical experience in an acute care setting.
Experience with tutoring or teaching in an educational setting or clinical area
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and interact positively with students, faculty, and staff.
Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
Experience with NCLEX-style questions
Working knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Office Suite.
Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Enthusiastic about student success and nursing education.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in nursing or completion of MSN within five (5) years from start date.
Experience in health settings outside acute care.
Experience in teaching, tutoring, or providing academic support in a higher education or clinical education environment.
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver educational programming.
Skilled in academic coaching and mentoring.
Knowledge and understanding of Villanova's curiculum and University resources.
Experience in working with English as Second language students.
Understanding of best practices in student coaching, learning strategies, and academic support programming.
Familiarity with academic software systems such as Banner, Slate, and NCLEX preparation platforms (e.g., ATI).

Responsibilities

Identify students at risk for academic challenges through data analysis and referrals from faculty, staff, administrators, and other campus offices for early intervention.
Provide individualized and small group tutoring in nursing course content and clinical application to promote critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills.
Analyze student exam performance to identify issues with test taking and study skills to provide targeted strategies to improve exam performance.
Deliver workshops, seminars, and other programs tailored to nursing student needs in understanding nursing content, clinical reasoning, and critical thinking.
Use the college's NCLEX preparation platform to monitor student readiness and offer targeted remediation.
Assist students in developing personalized NCLEX-RN study plans and provide ongoing support for preparation for testing.
Monitor student progress and document the support provided.
Partner with course faculty to identify student knowledge gaps and ensure information presented to students is consistent with course content.
Refer students to appropriate campus resources for mental health, learning accommodations, financial aid, and other support services.
Maintain regular communication with academic advisors, administrators, and student services.
Ensure coaching and tutoring practices are inclusive and culturally responsive.
Serve on committees and assist on special projects as assigned.
