About The Position

Located on the west bank of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, this facility delivers a broad range of pediatric programs including surgery, imaging, neonatal and pediatric intensive care, cardiac and oncology services, and blood and marrow and organ transplantation. It is the only academic children’s hospital in Minnesota, offering medical services in over 50 specialty areas. In the Nursing Station Technician role in the NICU, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse, demonstrating excellent customer service, collaboration, and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fast-paced unit. This position involves working 60 hours every two weeks on the night shift, with 12-hour shifts and every third weekend.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required (Ontrack participants must obtain upon completion of the OnTrack program)
  • Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program OR
  • Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician) OR
  • Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program OR
  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire (This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position)

Responsibilities

  • Minimal direct patient care
  • Maintaining unit desk area functions such as answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms and assembling patient charts
  • Setting up and maintaining patient rooms
