About The Position

This position is for a Nursing Station Technician in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at a nationally recognized academic children’s hospital located in Minneapolis. The hospital provides a broad range of pediatric programs, including surgery, imaging, neonatal and pediatric intensive care, cardiac and oncology services, and transplantation. The role involves working under the direct supervision of a professional nurse, focusing on excellent customer service, collaboration, and communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team in a fast-paced unit. The hospital has received national recognition for its compassionate and innovative approach, being ranked on U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Children’s Hospitals” list for 17 consecutive years.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants are required to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program
  • Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
  • Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)
  • Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position

Responsibilities

  • Minimal direct patient care
  • Maintaining unit desk area functions such as answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms and assembling patient charts
  • Setting up and maintaining patient rooms
  • Ordering and stocking of supplies
