About The Position

Fairview is seeking a Nursing Station Technician for M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. This part-time position involves 48 hours every two weeks, consisting of 8-hour evening shifts with an every-other-weekend rotation. M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital serves the southwest Twin Cities metro area, offering over 40 specialty services and balancing innovative technologies with compassionate care. The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides high-acuity care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, exposing staff to advanced technologies, complex medical conditions, and multidisciplinary teamwork. Nursing Assistants and Nursing Station Technicians are crucial in supporting both direct patient care and essential unit operations, making this an ideal setting for those looking to develop clinical and clerical skills in an environment that values precision, compassion, and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification.
  • Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
  • Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician).
  • Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program.
  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the professional caregiver in the delivery of patient care.
  • Transport patients and/or equipment.
  • Set up and maintain patient rooms.
  • Reorder and stock supplies.
  • Perform a wide range of clerical, transcription, and maintenance of patient care unit desk area functions.
  • Coordinate the flow of communication on a patient care unit.
  • Work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse, demonstrating excellent customer service, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Provide patient care including personal hygiene, taking vitals, assisting with daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feeding.
  • Maintain unit desk area functions such as answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts, and ordering tests.
  • Perform other tasks as needed.
