About The Position

Participates in the provision of a community-oriented primary care program, by providing general medical care to patients of El Centro Family Health. May provide clinical supervision, technical assistance and guidance to health professional students and other medical providers

Requirements

  • Completion of a course of study leading to certification as a nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist or nurse midwife and current Advance Practice Registered Nurse licensure by the New Mexico Board of Nursing; national certification a NP by American Association of Nurse Practitioners or National Certification Corporation, CNS by National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists or CNM by the American Midwifery Certification Board.

  • Completion of a course of study leading to certification as a physician's assistant, and current certification by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners; plus, assignment of physician supervision by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners; national certification as a physician's assistant.
  • OR
  • Completion of a course of study leading to certification as a women's health specialists, and current certification by the New Mexico Board of Nursing; plus, assignment of physician supervision by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners; national certification as a women's health specialist.
  • Licensure to practice medicine in New Mexico is required. Licensure must be kept current, full, and unrestricted through participation in an appropriate course of continuing education. Current DEA and New Mexico Controlled Substance Registration.
  • Maintain board certification with applicable national board.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Ability to balance, bend, lift, carry, and pull up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, typically longer than four hours.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, or as needed.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to use hands and fingers for feeling, grasping, and operating office equipment.
  • Adequate hearing ability for communication and monitoring office environments.
  • Good vision for reading documents, operating office equipment, and observing surroundings.
  • Capability to stoop, crouch, crawl, or kneel as necessary for office tasks.
  • Ability to talk clearly and effectively for communication.
  • Ability to walk and move around the office environment.
  • This position involves possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious materials.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain clinical standards by maintaining a professional and positive demeanor, by being a key member of the health team, by commitment to quality of care and organizational support.
  • Conduct physical exams, diagnose, treat illness, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventive health care, and write prescriptions.
  • Perform all duties consistent with evidence-based guidelines in clinical practice.
  • Perform other related assigned duties and responsibilities, in accordance with the employee's job description and ECFH Code of Ethics Policy.
  • Provide services within their scope of practice which may include general patient care (history, examination, diagnosis, ordering further studies as appropriate, ordering treatment, education. and referral as appropriate), minor procedures, and local anesthesia.
  • Ensure productivity in accordance with annual Leadership encounter and monthly reports.
  • Refer patients for specialty consultation and treatment as appropriate.
  • Document patient-medical provider interactions in a timely manner for proper record keeping and billing.
  • Assist the Regional Medical Manager and Chief Clinical Officer by being involved in the recruitment, retention, and evaluation of medical staff.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in continuing education or seminars related to job responsibilities. Tracks continuing education to ensure adequate hours to maintain license and board certification.
  • Adhere to customer service by exhibiting behavior and actions which create high level of patient and customer relations which reflect respect for the patients and customer's rights, needs, and confidentiality.
  • Consult with supervisor or other ECFH medical providers as needed including the following: any patient requiring transfer to a higher level of care any patient requiring critical care in the clinic, including Code Blue or imminent delivery. any patient where provider feels they need help with diagnosis or plan
  • Participate in clinic meetings, provider breakfast meetings, and other meetings as assigned.
  • Maintain a professional and positive demeanor.
  • Maintain commitment to quality care and organizational support.
  • Other duties as assigned.
