About The Position
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to support Dr. Kenning in a busy colorectal surgery practice. This role focuses on patient assessment, care coordination, EMR management, and patient education to ensure high-quality, continuity-driven care for both new and established patients.
Requirements
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) in good standing
- Strong clinical documentation and EMR skills (EPIC experience preferred)
- Excellent communication and patient education skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in surgery, colorectal, GI, or oncology preferred
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including detailed health histories and physical examinations for new and established patients
- Document thorough and accurate progress notes on behalf of the physician, ensuring compliance with clinical and regulatory standards
- Oversee and manage the EPIC EMR in-basket for both the provider and self, including: Reviewing diagnostic and lab results Communicating results to patients Placing orders for diagnostic testing as appropriate
- Communicate with patients and families to provide education on newly diagnosed or chronic conditions, including: Colon and rectal cancer Ostomy care Treatment plans and medications
- Coordinate care with surgeons, nursing staff, ostomy nurses, care coordinators, and other providers to ensure seamless continuity of care
- Assist the physician with patient call-backs and follow-up communications
