Key Position Details: This is a 1.0 FTE first assist PA role 4 10's Locations: Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Eden Prairie, West Health ASC 1-2 days OR/2-3 days clinic per week No call and no weekend work Job Description: Provides help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations as part of a Physician/Physician Assistant team in accordance with the designated specialty. Works in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently or as part of a treatment team. Serves as an educator, case manager, consultant to staff and multidisciplinary health care team.

Requirements

  • Master's degree - Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
  • BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required upon hire
  • Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire
  • Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Physician Assistant working in a Colorectal Surgery or Gastroenterology setting

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical care for patients
  • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
  • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
  • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
  • Refers for specialty care when determined.
  • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Physician Assistant scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
