FTE: 1.0, Shift: Day, Schedule: M-F Position Summary The Neurosurgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a valued member of the Neuroscience service line, dedicated to delivering high-quality outpatient care for patients with complex neurological and neurosurgical needs. Working exclusively in the ambulatory setting, this role focuses on pre-operative evaluations, post-operative follow-ups, conservative management, and longitudinal care coordination. This clinic-based position emphasizes relationship-building, patient education, and collaborative care. The APP works closely with neurosurgeons, nurses, and other multidisciplinary colleagues to support timely evaluations, continuity of care, and smooth patient experiences across the surgical journey. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited PA or NP program with national certification
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in Washington State by employment start date
  • Certification by NCCPA (for PA) or AANP/ANCC (for NP)
  • DEA registration, NPI, and prescriptive authority
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Experience in neurosurgery, neurology, spine care, or complex outpatient management preferred; new graduates with strong interest in neurosurgery are welcome to apply

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive outpatient neurosurgical consultations and follow-up visits
  • Perform clinical assessments including history-taking, focused exams, and medication reviews
  • Assist in pre-operative preparation including education, labs, imaging review, and coordination
  • Provide post-operative care through wound checks, suture removal, pain management, and recovery tracking
  • Develop treatment plans in collaboration with neurosurgeons for patients receiving conservative or procedural care
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, procedures, recovery expectations, and lifestyle modifications
  • Coordinate referrals for imaging, physical therapy, pain management, and subspecialty consultations
  • Accurately document clinical encounters and ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines
  • Participate in clinic huddles, care team meetings, and continuous learning initiatives
