To this end, the Nurse Manager accepts responsibility for managing the overall operations of the medical department. This individual will play a pivotal role in the coordination and management of nursing staff within our healthcare facility. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the nursing department, ensuring adherence to healthcare protocols, and promoting a culture of excellence in patient care. The Nurse Manager will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes, maintain quality standards, and foster a supportive work environment for nursing staff. Will mentor staff to ensure competent client care and processes. Oversee facility staffing and ensure medical inventory is maintained.   The Nurse Manager is responsible for recruitment, training, and maintaining quality staff. The Nursing Manager combines his/her analytical, and problem-solving skills, clinical experience, education, and leadership skills to ensure the nursing department's success in collaboration with the medical/health sector of the region. Work is performed with considerable independence by established regulations, policies, and procedures of the agency. Work is also performed per the Nurse Practice Act and under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing or designee.

Requirements

  • Degree from an accredited college or university’s professional nursing program; must possess a current RN license in good standing for the applicable state.
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience, with 1 year of experience treating individuals with substance use, mental health, or other related disorders.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a charge nurse or supervising health care worker(s). (May substitute BSN for 1 year of nursing experience and MSN for 2 years of nursing experience and 1 year of charge nurse or supervisory experience.)

Responsibilities

  • Ensures consistency in adhering to and promoting Gaudenzia’s treatment model, policies, procedures, and local and state regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with medication handling and administration policies, and local and state regulations.
  • Develops, maintains, and ensures the quality of counseling and education of clients on Disease Concepts of Addiction, HIV/AIDS, nutrition, medication education, infectious diseases, mental health, etc.
  • Promotes, educates, and assists in the facilitation of medication-assisted treatment (MAT).
  • Oversees medical documentation/electronic health record (EHR) uses.
  • Provide effective leadership to nursing staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of nursing personnel, providing feedback and implementing training programs as needed.
  • Foster professional growth and development among nursing staff through mentoring and continuing education opportunities.
  • Responsible for recruitment, training, and maintaining quality staff.
  • Ensure adherence to established clinical protocols, standards of care, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor patient care activities to ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and implement patient care plans, ensuring optimal outcomes.
  • Manage staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage and efficient use of resources.
  • Oversee the procurement and maintenance of necessary equipment, supplies, and medications.
  • Participate in budget planning and financial management activities for the nursing department. Including oversight and assistance with managed care and or other payor sources.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives within the nursing department, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators related to patient care outcomes, patient satisfaction, and staff productivity.
  • Implement strategies to address deficiencies and enhance the overall quality of care.
  • Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, administration, and other healthcare disciplines, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate patient care and address patient-related concerns.
  • Communicate with patients and their families to ensure understanding of treatment plans and address any questions or concerns.
  • Ensure that nursing staff are following required documentation guidelines within the timeframe dictated by the level of care, licensing, and regulatory entities.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison between our healthcare team and external stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration to uphold exceptional patient care standards and good relationships to facilitate mutual referrals.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing or designee.
  • Required to work one weekend and one off shift per month to ensure contact with all medical staff.
  • Will be required to work during staffing shortages and holidays as necessary.
  • This position is deemed essential and will be required to work during inclement weather conditions.
