About The Position

The Cincinnati VA Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Manager for the Referral Care Coordination Team in Integrated Services. The Nurse Manager will function as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care, assuming responsibility throughout the continuum of care. The Nurse Manager (NM) is the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the 24/7 operation of their assigned units and provides coverage for other NMs as needed. The NM is responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. They function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team.

Requirements

  • 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Nurse Manager Experience
  • 2-5 years prior experience in leadership or program management role
  • 2-3 years of regulatory experience (TJC, CARF, LTCI, OIG)
  • Employee Relations/Labor Relations Experience
  • Strong Written and Oral Communication Skills
  • Previous Experience with VA consult/referral management

  • Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Provides peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals.
  • Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Partners with others to effect change and produce optimal outcomes.
  • Supports colleagues through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care.
  • Shares educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers.
  • Questions clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care.
  • Participates in activities and strategies to sustain an evidence-based-practice culture.
