About The Position

A premier acute care hospital in Houston is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager – Neonatal ICU (RN) to support leadership oversight of a high-acuity Level IV NICU. This leadership role partners closely with the Director to ensure high-quality, patient-centered neonatal care while maintaining operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and staff engagement. The Manager will assist in coordinating department initiatives aligned with the organization’s long-range strategic plan, mission, vision, and values. All shifts include weekend rotation and on-call requirements. Leadership candidates must demonstrate flexibility in scheduling. This 420+ bed specialty hospital is dedicated exclusively to women’s and newborn health and is part of a large regional healthcare network. The facility delivers more than 800 babies per month and operates one of the highest-level NICU programs in the region, providing comprehensive care for premature and critically ill newborns. Level IV NICU 30-bed unit Oversees approximately 20–35 FTEs across Days, Evenings, and Nights Reports to: Director Position Status: Backfill / Department Growth

Requirements

  • BSN required
  • Current Texas RN License or Multi-State Compact License (Texas licensure required within 60 days if compact)
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification
  • 2+ years of NICU experience required
  • Recent (within the last year) acute care NICU leadership experience required (Level III or Level IV)
  • 2+ years of management or Charge Nurse experience required

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director in coordinating all department operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Support Performance Improvement activities to ensure continuous quality advancement.
  • Ensure nursing care delivery follows the nursing process and evaluate clinical effectiveness.
  • Provide hands-on clinical leadership and support to NICU nursing staff.
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care within Women’s Services.
  • Promote regulatory compliance, patient safety, and evidence-based practice.
  • Support staffing, scheduling, productivity management, and employee engagement.
  • Participate in weekend rotation and on-call leadership coverage.
