The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus is a Level IV, state-of-the-art, 17-bed intensive care unit designed to care for newborns with the most complex medical needs. Our dedicated and highly trained caregivers deliver world-class patient care through an intricate nursing care model rooted in evidence-based practice, with a steadfast commitment to putting patients first. Our goal is for all professional nursing caregivers to provide the highest quality and safest care possible. This unit also cares for mothers with high-risk pregnancies, including cases in which the mother, fetus, or both present with high-risk conditions. The nursing team actively participates in fetal surgeries and specialized procedures. Our team is at the forefront of obstetric care, performing advanced cases that are available at only a few centers worldwide. A PRN caregiver in this position works evening/night rotation, 7:00PM—7:30AM.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (must be presented upon hire)
  • External applicants must have two years recent related nursing experience
  • Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience but post orientation /90 day probationary period could be considered with Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
  • Successfully pass all prescreen competency assessments
  • Will consider licensed military RN experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families.
