Summary: Perform specific skills acquired in nursing school. Work in a patient care setting under the direction and supervision of an RN. Assist patients with activities related to daily living (i.e., hygiene, ambulation and lifting of patients). Utilize pressure ulcer prevention techniques. Assist with admission, orientation, transfer and discharge of patients. Provide education to patients and residents, family and significant others. Perform selected treatments as directed by supervising staff. Recognize and report pertinent data, changes in patient condition and/or safety hazards to appropriate team member. Communicate variation in patient condition to appropriate person and intervenes as necessary. Perform errands such as obtaining patient care supplies, equipment, blood products, ensuring all areas are stocked, clean and safe, taking responsibility for all inventory and equipment and other related activities. Deliver specimens using correct protocols. Document timely and appropriate patient information within scope of practice. Integrate recommendation from nursing or leadership into practice. Attend applicable educational programs and applies information to patient care. Verify patient identification prior to providing services per established policy using appropriate patient identifiers (i.e., checking ID band, etc.). Recognize and respond to adverse events, complications and emergency situations notifying appropriate leadership. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a RN Nursing Program and complete a NI-II portfolio within 90 days of hire.
  • Must meet the requirements of a Patient Care Technician job.
  • Required - High School or Equivalent
  • Required - Currently Enrolled - Registered Nurse
  • Required - BLS (Basic Life Support)

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred - CNA (Nursing Assistant)
  • Preferred - Patient Care Technician
