The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is responsible for all entities of Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health by providing staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader and researcher. Must be able to withstand physical activity which includes the ability to move or lift at least 50 pounds. Travel may be required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Develops/coordinates core education to address patient population specific nursing care. 2. Supports the development of the bedside nurse, and fosters empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidenced based nursing practice. 3. Responsible for the facilitation of the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education and leadership development. 4. Ensures that educational programs are current and responsive to changes in nursing practice while also being congruent with organizational missions, values, and goals. 5. Serves as a role model of professional behavior by creating a professional nursing climate within Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health to meet the needs of the diverse units within KCBH and the global needs of Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health. 6. Models Service Excellence behavior and incorporates service excellence information in all educational programs. 7. Supports growth and development of both nursing and mental health technicians. 8. Implements team building programs. 9. Demonstrates the ability to assist in the units as needed.
