About The Position

Lahey Hospital & Medical Center is seeking an experienced and passionate Unit-Based Nurse Educator to support our Resource Team and Medical Management Unit (MMU). This role floats across inpatient units, including Progressive Care (PCU), Medical-Surgical, and Critical Care, and plays a key role in advancing nursing excellence through education, mentorship, and evidence-based practice. Position Summary The Unit-Based Nurse Educator provides clinical education and competency support across multiple inpatient units. This role partners closely with nursing leadership to support onboarding, ongoing staff development, and practice initiatives while serving as a clinical and educational resource for frontline staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Current Registered Nurse license from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association required
  • Minimum of 3 years of current, relevant nursing experience required
  • Knowledge of nursing theory and clinical practice acquired through an accredited U.S. nursing program or CGFNS certification
  • Strong communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across diverse clinical environments

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
  • Critical Care experience strongly preferred; PCU experience acceptable
  • Additional 1–3 years of education, training, preceptor, or staff development experience preferred
  • Passion for staff development, mentorship, and advancing nursing practice

Responsibilities

  • Provide education, training, and competency validation across PCU, Medical-Surgical, and Critical Care units
  • Support nurse orientation, onboarding, and transition to practice initiatives
  • Collaborate with unit leadership to assess and address unit-specific educational needs
  • Serve as a clinical resource for evidence-based practice, policies, and professional standards
  • Support quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Promote professional growth, clinical excellence, and a culture of continuous learning
