About The Position

Unit-Based Nurse Educator – Oncology (7West) Lahey Hospital & Medical Center is seeking an experienced and passionate Unit-Based Nurse Educator (UBE) to support the 7West Oncology Inpatient Unit. In alignment with the health system’s expansion of the Oncology and Infusion Departments, this role is dedicated to ensuring that nurses caring for oncology and medical-surgical patients are appropriately trained, supported, and equipped to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care. This educator will work collaboratively with the Oncology/Infusion Clinical Nurse Educator and nursing leadership to support orientation, competency validation, professional development, and ongoing education specific to oncology patient care. This is an excellent opportunity for a clinically strong oncology nurse with a passion for education to make a meaningful impact within a specialized inpatient oncology setting. The Unit-Based Nurse Educator provides dedicated education and competency support for the 7West Oncology Inpatient Unit. This role partners closely with the Oncology/Infusion Clinical Nurse Educator and nursing leadership to support onboarding, competency validation, and ongoing staff development while serving as a clinical and educational resource for oncology nursing staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Current Registered Nurse license from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association required
  • Oncology nursing experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years of current, relevant nursing experience

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate orientation, onboarding, and competency validation for oncology nursing staff
  • Provide unit-based education focused on oncology and medical-surgical patient care
  • Serve as a clinical resource for evidence-based oncology practices, policies, and standards of care
  • Collaborate with nurse leaders, clinical specialists, and the Oncology/Infusion Clinical Nurse Educator to standardize education and competencies across the unit
  • Support quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Promote professional growth, clinical excellence, and a culture of continuous learning
  • Assist with identification of learning needs and development of educational materials and training programs
  • Provide flexibility for occasional nights and weekends to meet unit and staff needs
