About The Position

We are currently recruiting for a Nurse Consultant I on the Child and Adolescent Unit (CAU). This position will provide orientation, annual required training, and on- going education to all levels of nursing staff. He/she works collaboratively with the other educators and the HCT III (Preceptor) assigned to the unit. The Nurse Consultant I is responsible for direct patient care on an assigned ward as needed and may be assigned charge nurse duties. A primary purpose of the position is to audit areas identified as not meeting nursing standard. The role is in collaboration with the Nursing Quality and Performance Improvement initiative. The Nurse Consultant I can also function as a professional nurse on the patient care units (when it is required).

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina
  • One year of experience in the area of specialization
  • Ability to maintain a current certification in NVCI annually; CRR, and ACLS biennially

  • Knowledge of professional nursing skills, practices, and procedures
  • Knowledge of theory and practice of psychiatric nursing including medications, group dynamics, growth/development, and adult learning
  • Ability to assess employee learning needs and evaluate effectiveness of learning activities
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to create and implement improvement plans
  • Ability to audit and aggregate data
  • ADA physical requirements will be discussed during the interview including but not limited to lifting, kneeling, walking up and down stairs, and ability to lift 50 pounds
