The Nurse Aide in Training program offers employees online and on-the-floor training to become a Nurse Aide. Individuals demonstrating good customer service, reliability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic may become eligible for no-cost Education Assistance to become a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA). This assistance can be provided through classes at Regency locations, local community college/technical school programs, or an internship with a waiver to skip classes, provided the employee can pass a skills check and practice exam. Nurse Aides and CNAs work under the direction of Charge Nurses, assisting residents with activities of daily living as outlined in their care plans. The role requires compassion, friendliness, and a desire to help others. Prior to starting the Nurse Aide class, new hires will work as a Hospitality Aide for a minimum of two weeks. This introductory period allows both the employee and the facility to assess suitability for the CNA role and provides an understanding of resident care responsibilities. During this time, the Hospitality Aide will perform supportive, non-clinical duties such as answering call lights, making beds, assisting with room maintenance, passing water and trays, and other basic resident needs that do not require certification. Successful completion of this period, along with demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and compassion, will allow progression into the Nurse Aide Training Class.
