About The Position

Nuclear Surety Engineer The Opportunity: Conducts technical nuclear surety, nuclear certification, risk, and nuclear survivability assessments and analyses. Uses modeling and simulation tools and analytical techniques to assess nuclear surety, certification, and survivability. Performs evaluations of the design and operation of electrical, mechanical, nuclear command and control, and communications subsystems for Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs). Leads and supports Integrated Product Teams (IPT) in the development of missile system design to ensure compliance with nuclear surety, certification, and survivability standards. Ensures ICBM system architectures meet nuclear surety, certification, and survivability requirements. Supports Nuclear Surety and Certification Working groups and presents technical results of analysis to internal and external customers. Applies leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts of nuclear weapon systems and contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides highly innovative solutions. Operates with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or decision and mentors or supervises employees in both company and technical competencies. Join us. The world can't wait.

Requirements

  • Experience with DOW, Air Force nuclear surety, certification, and survivability policies and processes or equivalent DOE nuclear policy and processes
  • Experience with Air Force nuclear weapon systems design
  • Knowledge of DOW Systems Engineering lifecycle
  • Knowledge of nuclear surety, certification, and survivability techniques, policies, and processes, such as AFI 63-125, Nuclear Certification Program, and 91 Series AFIs and AFMANs
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in science, technology, or engineering and 15+ years of experience in nuclear surety or Master's degree in science, technology, or engineering and 12+ years of experience in nuclear surety or Doctorate degree and 9+ years of experience in nuclear surety
