About The Position

The Nuclear Quality Records & Document Control Lead is responsible for building, owning, and enforcing the digital document control and quality records management system for all nuclear and safety-critical work performed under L&H Industrial’s (ASME NQA-1 / 10 CFR 50 Appendix B / 10 CFR Part 21) Quality Assurance Program. This role is the gatekeeper of nuclear pedigree. It ensures that documentation, records, and configuration control meet regulatory, contractual, and customer requirements before work is released. The position is intentionally independent of cost and schedule pressure and applies only to nuclear and safety-critical work, segregated from legacy ISO programs so you can focus on NQA. When this role is executed correctly, audits are routine, customer confidence is earned, and issues are prevented. When executed poorly, no other success matters.

Requirements

  • U.S. born Citizen or a Naturalized U.S. Citizen
  • Experience in document control or quality records within one or more regulated environments 5+ years experience (preferred) Nuclear (preferred) Aerospace/Defense ((AS9100) Medical Devices/Pharmaceutical (GMP) Regulated Industrial Construction or Energy
  • Experience supporting audits and managing controlled digital document systems
  • Proficiency with EDMS platforms (e.g., Sharepoint, OpenText, Aconex, Vault, Windchill or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of: Revision Control Metadata and indexing Access permissions Digital workflows and approvals
  • Comfortable integrating records with ERP systems (job numbers, travelers, inspections)
  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree preferred (Quality, Engineering Technology, Information Management or similar) Equivalent experience strongly considered

Nice To Haves

  • Strong working knowledge of ASME NQA-1 requirements and nuclear quality principles (preferred)
  • Familiar with NRC regulatory environment and nuclear customer QA expectations (preferred)
  • Experience with configuration management and formal change control
  • Strong sense of accountability and nuclear safety culture (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Own and operate the digital document management system (DMS/EDMS) for nuclear work
  • Control the full lifecycle of quality-affecting documents, including: Creation, revision, review, approval, release, access, and archiving
  • Enforce digital-only discipline (no uncontrolled paper systems)
  • Maintain indexed, searchable, audit-ready digital record packages at all times
  • Ensure only current, approved documents are available at points of use
  • Prevent unintended use of obsolete or superseded documents
  • Classify records correctly (lifetime vs. non-lifetime)
  • Maintain full traceability from: Purchase Order → Traveler → Inspection → Final Acceptance
  • Maintain configuration control of procedures, drawings, ITPs, and quality records
  • Support and maintain documentation required under 10 CFR Part 21
  • Ensure records meet NQA-1 requirements for completeness, retrievability, integrity, and retention
  • Work closely with: 1. Director of Nuclear Quality 2. Nuclear inspectors and verification personnel 3. Engineering, Coordinators, Manufacturing, Procurement, Warehousing, and Suppliers
  • Ensure records are complete and compliant prior to release — no “fix it later”
  • Professionally stop releases or work when documentation does not meet nuclear requirements
  • Prepare and present records for: 1. Customer audits 2. Internal audits 3. Supplier audits 4. Regulatory or third-party assessments
  • Respond to audit inquiries with accuracy, clarity, and confidence
  • Maintain audit readiness regardless of schedule pressure
  • Has authority to hold or stop release of nuclear work due to documentation or records issues
  • Escalates documentation nonconformances directly to Nuclear Quality leadership
  • Independent of cost, schedule, and production pressure
