About The Position

Overview Under general supervision, performs diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures with radioisotope and radiation detection methods.

Requirements

  • Graduation with a certificate or advanced degree in radiation therapy or nuclear medicine from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Accepting new grads
  • 1+ years Preferred
  • Registered with American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (N) and/or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (CNMT)
  • Licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist - State of MD
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor degree
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board NCT and/or PET
  • Approval letter from the State of MD Board to operate a CT/Nuclear Medicine Device or ARRT (CT)
  • Licensed Radiographer - State of MD
  • Monday-Friday as needed
  • Weekends on call

Responsibilities

  • Executes basic clinical competence in nuclear medicine technology, in all locations across all patient types.
  • Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals and adjunctive medications in order to perform patient imaging procedures using nuclear medicine instrumentation.
  • Processes data and enhances digital images using advanced computer technology.
  • Provides images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Selects accurate technical factors and appropriateness on an individual patient basis and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient.
  • Applies knowledge of nuclear medicine principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, radiation safety and physics, quality assurance, positioning and patient care skills.
  • Ensures safety and security in the storage and delivery of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Adheres to Joint Commission, State, Federal and departmental regulatory compliance standards.
  • Documents accurate patient care activity in various electronic health records systems.
  • Ensures a safe and appropriate work environment.
  • Maintains supplies and inventory in area.
  • Informs appropriate colleague when supplies need to be ordered from outside vendors.
  • Documents and reports related equipment/environmental problems in accordance with policy.
  • Actively participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives and efforts to improve workflows, patient experience and quality.
  • Actively participates in student and employee training and educational activities.
