Up to $30,000 new hire sign on bonus and up to $7,000 in relocation assistance is available. Monday - Friday; day shift with rotating call and holidays. Position primarily located at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center but will require some coverage at Carilion Giles Community Hospital. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis of patients of all ages. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist Operates highly specialized, technical equipment to obtain images and test results. Administers diagnostic and therapeutic doses to patients under the direction of an authorized user by IV, inhalation and ingestion. Prepares patients for examinations and explains procedures, correlating patient history with test to be performed. May assist with scheduling, registration, image management and computer processing for patients. Evaluates, prepares and observes patients with professional ethics, care, courtesy, patience and safety. Interacts with other staff, patients, physicians, families, family members/visitors, management, ancillary departments and general public. Interacts with patients, families and all members of the healthcare team to develop, coordinate and manage the plan of care. Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirement relative to age and/or specific needs and provides care per applicable policy and procedures. Participates in the training of students and staff as assigned. Enhances personal and professional growth through participating in educational opportunities.
