About The Position

The Nuclear Analysis Technician position at Westinghouse's headquarters in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, is an AWSE Union opportunity. This role involves assisting engineers and other higher-classified personnel with technical functions related to the generation, assemblage, and verification of nuclear analysis information. The technician will utilize manipulative and specialized skills, technical training, and applied knowledge to support engineering work. Key tasks include analyzing, summarizing, and preparing data in written and graphic forms, performing calculations using algebraic and trigonometric functions, reviewing and assisting with modifications to computer program inputs, modifying non-complex computer programs, and maintaining computer files and records. The role also involves running data analysis and plotting programs and offers opportunities to learn new skills by supporting various engineering activities within the assigned functional group.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree Required - Technical curriculum, including 2 Courses in Math and 2 Courses in Physics.
  • OR 60 College Credits in an Engineering Curriculum, including 2 Courses in Math and 2 Courses in Physics.
  • No amount of experience will be permitted to substitute for the required education.
  • Recognized technical programs (e.g., Naval Nuclear or other military programs) will be permitted to substitute for the required formal education.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers and other higher classified personnel in technical type functions related to the generation, assemblage, and verification of nuclear analysis information.
  • Identify engineering work which requires a high degree of manipulative or other special skills acquired through experience, coupled with technical training and application of knowledge in the area of specialization.
  • Support engineering work which requires a high degree of manipulative or other specific skills acquired.
  • Assist in the analysis, summarization, and preparation of data into written and/or graphic form requiring calculations involving the use of basic algebraic formulae and trigonometric functions.
  • Review computer program input utilizing computer input sheets or specific check programs.
  • Assist in the preparation of computer input alterations and modifications based on information derived from initial raw data analysis.
  • Assist in the modification of existing non-complex computer programs.
  • Catalog and maintain computer input and output files, calculation notes and associated records.
  • Run data analysis and/or computer plotting programs utilizing existing computer systems.
  • Support various engineering activities in their assigned functional group which are not limited to the above list.
