The Non-Certified Medical Assistant performs a combination of clinical and administrative duties under the supervision of a licensed provider. This role is intended as an interim position for team members who are actively pursuing a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure within a defined timeframe. The Non-Certified Medical Assistant supports clinic operations by assisting providers with patient care and performing delegated clinical tasks, while also contributing to the efficient day-to-day functioning of the practice. Responsibilities include working collaboratively as part of the care team, supporting patient flow, and assisting with both clinical and administrative processes. While performing these duties, the role requires ability to access the operational components of the practice, including clinical work areas, medical records, supplies, and secured medication storage, as necessary to support daily operations and patient care activities. Education: High school diploma or equivalent ONE of the following: Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program Currently enrolled in a medical assistant program that meets eligibility requirements for certification through a nationally recognized certifying organization Currently enrolled in an accredited LPN program In lieu of education/training, twelve (12) months of work experience involving hands-on patient care and clinical tasks Licensure or Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) issued by a nationally recognized certifying organization within 12 months of hire OR Licensure as an LPN by the Commonwealth of Virginia within 24 months of hire CPR certified Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to meet physical and mental requirements of the position in a fast-paced, team-oriented physician practice Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures Strong communication and interpersonal skills Responsible, versatile individual willing to accept a variety of responsibilities. Computer experience or skills Ability to have flexible hours Ability to perform designated job duties Proficient in clear and accurate written communication, ensuring completeness and attention to detail. Skilled in interacting courteously and effectively with others, contributing to a collaborative and respectful environment. Committed to maintaining patient confidentiality and dignity, adhering to privacy regulations and ethical standards.
