About The Position

As a Non-Certified CS/SPD Technician, you will play a key role in how our operating rooms care for our patients as a whole team relies on you to successfully set up the operating room. Non-Certified CS/SPD Technicians receive ample support, training and education, including learning how to operate the latest, state-of-the-art processing equipment and using the newest sterilization tools and concepts. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working evenings between 7:00 p.m. - 3:30 a.m.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) is required within 18 months after hire, unless an extension is granted at the purview of leadership

Nice To Haves

  • One year of healthcare experience or a similar background in mechanical/manufacturing assembly
  • Military experience as a Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F) or similar will be considered
  • Previous experience in the medical field or manufacturing
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment.
  • Perform case pull functions.
  • Demonstrate proper handling of equipment, instrumentation and chemicals.
  • Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Observe personal protective equipment standards in the decontamination process.
  • Scan, sort, inspect and assemble instruments by instrument list and wrap and label as documented in the procedure.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, decontamination, assembly and high-level disinfection of reusable instrumentation in accordance with AAMI ST79 standards.
  • Monitor and control the distribution of supplies and equipment.
  • Perform recordkeeping within the electronic tracking system, including processing, sterilization and quality assurance documentation.
  • Build case carts using electronic preference cards and dispatch them to appropriate locations.
