About The Position

NJCAP facilitators are responsible for delivering NJCAP’s empowerment workshops to students pre-k through high school, school staff, and parents/caregivers. Facilitators work as part of a team to present the curriculum, which focuses on children’s rights to be Safe, Strong, and Free. This role requires public speaking, engaging classroom presence, and the ability to manage sensitive topics with professionalism and care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred)
  • Experience working with children or in educational settings
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfort discussing topics such as bullying, abuse prevention, and empowerment
  • Reliable transportation to school locations
  • Knowledge of technology to facilitate virtual workshops with parents/caregivers
  • Flexible schedule, including availability during school hours and occasional events for parent/caregiver programs
  • Willingness to complete background check and fingerprinting
  • Valid NJ Driver's License in good standing

Nice To Haves

  • Background in education, social work, child development, or related field
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Familiarity with child protection or violence protection programs

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate student workshops in schools according to the NJCAP curriculum.
  • Host school staff and parent/caregiver programs to introduce and explain NJCAP’s strategies and child protection concepts.
  • Engage students through role-plays, discussions, and activities tailored to developmental levels.
  • Create safe space for students to raise questions about the information presented, discuss situational problems, or disclose reportable matters involving abuse, neglect, and/or bullying.
  • Partner with school staff to report concerns of maltreatment to the State Central Registry (SCR) at the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P).
  • Collaborate with other facilitators to plan and present cohesive programs.
  • Attend mandatory initial and ongoing training including staff development activities and meetings as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of school visits, student attendance, disclosure forms, and workshop evaluations.
  • Communicate effectively with school staff, NJCAP/NJ4S hub coordinators, and team members.
  • Maintain an up-to-date information and referral directory of available local, county, and state supported services and resources, including 2nd Floor Youth Helpline and the Traumatic Loss Coalition, readily available to students, parents/caregivers, and school personnel.
  • Uphold NJCAP’s mission, policies, and professional standards at all times.
