About The Position

Become a part of our caring community and help us put health first The Nicotine Cessation Specialist (NCS) should be prepared to answer the Quit line incoming or outgoing calls related to those who are seeking assistance in stopping tobacco or nicotine product use. The NCS will be prepared to engage in telephone discussion to help those calling for assistance. Specific duties and responsibilities include documentation of each call, responding to messages left on voice mail, and providing educational information as appropriate. The NCS must be flexible in time scheduling, understanding that schedules may be adjusted dependent upon the incoming call activity. The Commit to Quit line hours are 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday - Friday. We are looking for kind, empathetic, and success driven candidates who want to help others, and be a part of a growing team to support beneficiaries and their families in their wellness journey. We are looking for individuals who have exceptional communication skills and a strong desire to help those who are struggling with Nicotine Addiction with the ability to maintain warmth and patience in tough discussions. We need you to have passion for encouraging others and providing positive reinforcement in a call environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Answers incoming Quit line calls from those wishing to stop nicotine use. Completes all screening tool questions with appropriate information. Provides coaching to review results of screening, support of goal setting with a focus on personalized lifestyle health improvement of the beneficiary. Distributes cessation reference materials to those incoming callers desiring this information. Delivers appropriate referral information regarding local cessation treatment programs, mailed materials available, and local referrals for health-related treatment. Follows policy and procedures for the Quit line process. Actively participates in updating tobacco and vaping cessation information, as it becomes available. Complete beneficiary contact on those messages left on the answering system during unmanned call times or high-volume call periods. Coordination of Humana Military health and well-being programs, services, tools, and resources Participates in continuing educational training offered by appropriate sources to keep up with the most recent tobacco and vaping cessation information. Requirements

  • Our Department of Defense Contract requires U.S. citizenship for this position
  • Successfully receive interim approval for government security clearance (NBIS - National Background Investigation Services, previously known as eQIP - Electronic Questionnaire for Investigation Processing)
  • HGB is not authorized to do work in Puerto Rico per our government contract. We are not able to hire candidates that are currently living in Puerto Rico.
  • Must be a non-smoker/non-vaping
  • Must have 3 or more years’ experience in health and wellness coaching, or customer service with health coaching experience
  • Must have the flexibility to work any 8 hour shift between the hours of 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday – Friday
  • Must be able to work 8 - 5 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday - Friday during the training period
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage deadlines, multiple tasks, and priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to serve as a discussion facilitator for beneficiary behavior change, and/or educator

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A degree in Public Health, Community Health, Health Education and Promotion, Social Work or other Human Services field preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish / English with the ability to read, write and speak fluently without limitations or assistance
  • Motivational Interviewing coaching experience
