As a Nexa Platform Architect at Optum Serve, you will be responsible for designing and implementing robust, scalable, and high-performance software solutions across the Nexa platform. You will work closely with the Engineering Leaders, Solutions Architects, and Infrastructure to break down conceptual designs into Software Architecture Diagrams, then work with Software Architects and cross-functional teams to ensure that our applications meet the highest standards of quality and performance. Your expertise in modern design patterns, cloud-native architectures, and Microsoft Azure will be crucial in driving our projects to success. You will be working collaboratively as a technical architecture leader to transform our technology portfolio into a digital-native platform using contemporary and emerging trends in architecture and technology. â The work you lead, will have a direct impact on our customers to make the Nexa platform successful for the implementation of current and future contracts in Optum Serve. The work you lead will have an immediate and lasting impact on the customers that we serve. â This is a challenging role that will include leading the transformation of our engineering, data, and architecture teams to strengthen and grow our multi-channel distribution capabilities. You will be a leader in driving change and innovation to accelerate our transformation. This position will not have direct reports. You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Requirements

  • 13+ years of professional experience, including 10+ years in IT software development
  • 10+ years developing full-stack applications using Java, SpringBoot, .NET Core, and data technologies such as T-SQL, NoSQL, and GraphQL
  • 6+ years leading business technology strategy and enterprise architecture initiatives
  • 5+ years of experience designing cloud-enabled solutions in Azure or AWS
  • 5+ years of experience creating business-enabling technology roadmaps
  • 5+ years of experience driving team performance in both direct and matrixed environments including mentoring and coaching technical architects, software engineers, and innovation teams
  • United States Citizenship

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience delivering Agile Software Architectures and models
  • 3+ years of experience with asynchronous data pipelines using Kafka, Azure Event Hub, Event Grid, or similar frameworks
  • 3+ years of experience working in the healthcare sector
  • 3+ years of experience developing visual representations of architectural solutions using standard notations (e.g., solution context, application architecture, sequence diagrams)
  • 2+ years of experience with low/no-code orchestration and composition platforms

Responsibilities

  • For any given product idea, quickly absorb the business drivers, and assess the IT assets needed to create the capabilities required to fulfill the business vision and requirements
  • Understand the Enterprise Architecture roadmap, influence to Modernize architectures
  • Research, identify, and recommend Modern Architecture patterns for solving business problems
  • Rapidly navigate between high-level business vision, through Product/Capability/System level requirements, identify architecturally significant changes to provide Solution specification
  • Identify candidate solution approaches, and model cost-benefit tradeoffs of each
  • Rapidly develop a Conceptual model of the chosen solution, and document using a combination of text, diagrams and human interactions
  • Collaborate to enable team-business, development, operations-to align to conceptual models
  • Create the solution documentation (Agile Solution Intent and Software Models) that will provide both a basis for project sign-off by all stakeholders, and the foundation Product Teams
  • Cultivate role as trusted advisor of all parties (business, RTE and Delivery)
  • Gracefully transition solution leadership to the Product/Delivery team, once the solution is clearly understood, documented and under development
  • Leverage your experience, versatility and quick learning to jump in when and where needed to help the project through sticking points
  • Provide Governance and Oversight to guide implementation with enterprise architecture direction
  • Guide and mentor the work of other Enterprise and Product architects
  • Seek opportunities to create efficiencies or advance architectural agenda, by identifying reusable assets
  • Take leadership role in delivering and driving solution strategy at scale
  • Oversee Enterprise Architecture disciplines: Business, Information, Integration, and Technology
  • Lead Architecture Governance: Manage Technology Lifecycle and Architecture Review Boards
  • Implement Modern Architecture Patterns: Including Microservices, Event-Driven Messaging, Public Cloud, Gen AI, AI/ML, and NoSQL
  • Develop and Maintain Technical Roadmaps: Collaborate with engineering and product teams
  • Align Enterprise and Solution Architecture: Ensure alignment with business needs and technical patterns
  • Apply and Harvest Software Patterns: Utilize deep experience in software patterns
  • Promote Modern Design Principles: Advocate for SOLID and Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
