About The Position

The New Grad RN position is for recent RN graduates or those with less than one year of RN experience. Those hired as a New Grad RN will work under a licensed RN until license can be verified. In conjunction with working on this unit New Grad RNs attend Intermountain’s one-year nurse residency program. The nurse residency program supports New Grad RNs in their transition from classroom to caregiver through webinars, simulations, case studies, and in person meetings. An RN with more than one year of nursing experience is not required to attend the nurse residency program. Hospital Information: Intermountain Medical Center Unit Information: Inpatient Rehab Neuro Specialty Rehabilitation Units (NSRU) at Intermountain Healthcare where we provide medical and rehabilitative care through an interdisciplinary team of highly skilled clinicians and caregivers. Requirements

  • Recent RN graduate or less than one year of RN experience
  • Successful completion of a recognized and accredited Nursing/RN education program (education will be verified)
  • Current RN License in state of practice
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • RNs with less than 12 months of working experience as an RN prior to joining Intermountain must obtain their BSN within five years of their start date

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient centered care while demonstrating values of Integrity, Trust, Excellence, Accountability, and Mutual Respect
  • Provide medical and rehabilitative care through an interdisciplinary team
  • See and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
  • Verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
  • Manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation
  • Lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
  • Bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment (including heavy items)
  • Walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
  • Push/pull gurneys and portable equipment (including heavy items)
