Job Summary: The Neurosurgical Program Manager oversees nurse navigators within the Neurosurgery service line. Responsible for program growth and development and streamlining processes to improve patient experience. Designs and implements data collection systems and processes. The program manager interfaces with inpatient and outpatient care teams and collaborates across a wide variety of patient services to ensure continuity of care and improve patient access and retention.

Requirements

  • BSN required
  • Licensed as a professional RN in the state of Connecticut
  • 5 years nursing experience
  • Experience within neurosurgery.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a multi-specialty environment preferred.
  • Certification in specialty area preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a resource for nurse navigators. Develops, plans, and evaluates staff training and orientation. Participates in formal and informal evaluation of staff competency.
  • Responsible for developing additional growth and for creating new referral pathways. Connects providers and organizes outreach activities. Assists with implementation of new programs, and with efforts to promote the program to other health care professionals and the public.
  • Develops and maintains educational material and referral resources. Collaborates with providers and marketing to develop informational and educational materials appropriate for the patient population or referring providers.
  • Establishes and interprets standard work and protocols. Applies organization's methodology to performance improvement projects. Collaborates with the IRB on program specific research initiatives. Utilizes results of quality assurance and research to identify opportunities for performance improvement.
  • Serves as a liaison between groups of providers and care settings to ensure continuity of patient care. Facilitates access and communication when multiple services are involved. Serves as a consultant to nursing staff, medical staff, and other health care providers in care of the specified patient population.
