Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular / Cardiopulmonary Technologist program, Radiologic Technology program or Surgical Technology program. (3 years of additional Cardiovascular / Cardiopulmonary Technologist program, Radiologic Technology program or Surgical Technology experience can be substituted in lieu of degree).
  • Associate’s degree in Radiologic Sciences requires NM Radiography Tech license (ARRT-R)- NM Environment Department within 1 year after graduation.
  • Essential: BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire from AHA, ASHI or Red Cross
  • ACLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire from AHA, ASHI or Red Cross
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Certification (RCIS) REQUIRED or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist Certification (RCES) REQUIRED or American Registry of radiologic Technologists Certification (ARRT) REQUIRED

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of experience in cardiac cath lab, interventional radiology, or OR hybrid setting supporting image-guided procedures preferred.
  • Requires detailed knowledge of neuroendovascular, structural heart, or complex aortic procedures.
  • Proficient with angiography system operations.

Responsibilities

  • Supports complex image-guided procedures in a hybrid operating room.
  • Prepares and maintains hybrid suite equipment (biplane/angiography systems, fluoroscopy), ensuring sterile technique, assisting the procedural team, and supporting patient and staff safety during emergent and scheduled cases.
  • Functions as a Scrub Technologist, Monitoring/Recording Technologist: to include Adult Cardiac Catheterization, Cardiac Devices, Vascular Catheterization, Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization, Electrophysiology, Neuro Intervention and/or Structural Heart.
  • May function as a Circulator with medication/IV responsibilities with RCIS certification.
  • Prepare hybrid OR and interventional equipment for cases: biplane/angiography C-arm, contrast injectors, hemodynamic monitors, imaging displays, and procedure instrumentation and supplies.
  • Operate and troubleshoot imaging equipment under physician direction.
  • Table/fluoro positioning, digital cine capture, DSA runs), including basic image acquisition tasks and archiving require ARRT radiography certification and licensure in the state of NM.
  • Manage contrast media, ensure appropriate labeling/handling and assist with contrast safety (allergy screening).
  • Assist with device preparation, verification, and inventory management for implants, stents, coils, embolic materials, grafts, catheters, sheaths, dilators, and closure devices.
  • Perform pre-case room checks, ensure instrument and tray readiness, and complete perioperative checklists (time-out, equipment checks, radiation safety checks).
  • Apply radiation safety practices — use shielding, dosimeter monitoring, and minimize fluoroscopy time per ALARA principles; report dosimetry as required.
  • Maintain accurate procedural documentation in the EMR and imaging systems (case times, devices used, lot/serial numbers).
  • Participate in training, competency validation, and orientation of new staff; contribute to quality improvement, safety, and inventory optimization projects.
  • Communicate professionally with multidisciplinary team members (surgeons, interventionalists, anesthesia, nurses, radiology techs, supply chain) and vendors.
  • Performs other functions as required.
