About The Position

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s Low Earth Orbit satellite network, aiming to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks, including individual households, schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies. The Network Operations Center (NOC) team within Leo Networking Software is responsible for tier 1 support for software defined network services. This role involves joining a growing team of network operations engineers supporting Amazon Leo's global satellite network, which operates at scale and supports workloads critical to customer network performance and availability. Operational excellence is a key aspect of this role. Due to export control laws, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Requirements

  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
  • Experience troubleshooting and documenting findings
  • 4+ years of technical support experience
  • 4+ years of network engineering experience for large-scale networks, including diagnosing network impacting issues

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of distributed applications/enterprise applications
  • 4+ years of experience with satellite-based telecommunication networking
  • Hands-on experience working with satellite software defined networking technologies, packet forwarding architectures, and connectivity issues
  • Experience dealing effectively with partner teams during problem resolution and collaborating efficiently as a team
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent, or experience with networking and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, cURL or related) at an advanced level

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and escalate network-related incidents in a timely manner, diagnosing and troubleshooting network issues including connectivity problems, performance degradation, and security concerns.
  • Support deployment and onboarding of network capabilities across geographic regions, assisting in the monitoring, testing, and reporting of new network infrastructure including satellites, gateway sites, and points of presence.
  • Monitor and investigate network performance to ensure maximum efficiency and operational uptime for customers.
  • Build and enhance tools, develop best practices, and refine operational procedures to measurably improve network operations.
  • Manage severity 2 and 3 tickets while attending on-call rotations during business hours and weekends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network, software, and security engineers.
