About The Position

The Network Engineer ensures the reliable operation, monitoring, and maintenance of enterprise network infrastructure across both Mall of America and American Dream properties. This role focuses on Cisco networking technologies, including core and edge switching, routing, and ASA firewall management. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, hold a CCNA, and bring experience in network cybersecurity and support operations. Familiarity with virtual server environments and multi-site network coordination is preferred. 2-4 years or experience as Network Administrator role

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in network administration supporting Cisco infrastructure.
  • CCNA certification required.
  • Deep familiarity with:
  • Cisco switching (STP, VLANs, trunking, PoE)
  • Cisco ASA Firewalls (ACLs, VPNs, NAT, inspection policies)
  • Cisco routers (OSPF, EIGRP, static/dynamic routing and BGP routing)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across all OSI layers.
  • Working knowledge of network security concepts (segmentation, threat mitigation, secure remote access).
  • Experience with Cisco Wireless Controllers and wireless technologies.
  • Highly organized with strong documentation and incident tracking skills.
  • Clear communication of technical information to non-technical users.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and follow-through.
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
  • Occasional kneeling and bending.
  • Ability to push/pull a cart with 20 pounds of force.
  • Prolonged sitting and computer use.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with virtualized server environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Exposure to cloud-based or hybrid networking infrastructures.
  • Additional Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCDA) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor all aspects of the enterprise network across MOA and American Dream, including WAN, LAN, WLAN, VPN, and firewall systems.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Cisco-based environments: Core and edge switching platforms
  • Routers (inter-VLAN routing, dynamic/static routing)
  • ASA Firewalls (rule set management, VPN configuration, NAT, access control)
  • Upgrading and patching different network gears
  • Execute configuration changes and system updates following change management protocols.
  • Use network monitoring tools to proactively respond to alerts and connectivity issues in real time.
  • Maintain DNS and DHCP services with high availability and accurate IP address management.
  • Investigate network-related incidents with a focus on security, including firewall logs and intrusion detection.
  • Support and troubleshoot enterprise wireless infrastructure for internal and guest access across both sites.
  • Create and maintain network documentation and diagrams for auditing, troubleshooting, and planning.
  • Assist the IT Network Manager with network expansion, upgrades, and project execution at both MOA and American Dream.
  • Provide Tier 2 support for escalated service desk issues.
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices to secure the network environment.
  • Technology vendors, service providers, and contractors and Tenant engagement
  • Participate in a rotational on-call schedule.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the IT Network Manager.
