Network Development Engineer , GCNA-D Edge

AmazonSeattle, WA

About The Position

The AWS GCNA (Global Connectivity and Network Availability) Organization is seeking a Network Development Engineer to join their EDGE team. This role is crucial for designing, operating, and implementing large-scale networks, supporting all aspects of connectivity to and from Amazon and the outside world, as well as connectivity between Amazon’s data centers and services. Network Development Engineers collaborate with the broader Infrastructure organization on configuration standards and tools, and work with Systems and Software Engineers to ensure the rapid and smooth deployment of new designs and products, in addition to deploying and sustaining networking software tools. The AWS GCNA organization is responsible for building and designing a complex backbone network that efficiently manages internet traffic flow between data centers and customers globally. The position involves working with new technologies, optimizing existing technology, and participating in network/systems support within a large-scale enterprise or service provider environment, with a focus on driving the stability and sustainability of next-generation IP networks. The team is diverse, comprising software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers, all collaborating across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for customers. Engineers in the GCNA-D organization evolve routing policy, implement traffic engineering solutions, expand peering footprint, secure the network from malicious actors on the Internet, and architect hardware platforms and network designs to support all Amazon products reaching end-users worldwide. This infrastructure handles terabits of traffic, necessitating complex solutions to ensure capacity always exceeds demand. To achieve this, engineers develop automation, write software, and partner with various teams to continuously improve and automate Internet connectivity in areas such as capacity delivery, configuration deployment, impairment detection, and traffic optimization. Internet Edge engineers make both daily and long-term strategic decisions that carry significant responsibility and impact across all of Amazon’s products.
