About The Position

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Broadband Deployment, the Network Asset Manager will be responsible for profiling, entering and maintaining digital records of fiber optic and wireless network infrastructure in support of the construction and management of a public broadband network within New York. Success in the role will be demonstrated by building statewide network records, minimizing discrepancies to ensure the operational success of broadband infrastructure under ConnectALL management across the state.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, telecommunications, or a related field. Associate’s degree with 7 years, direct relevant experience may substitute.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience using GIS-based fiber management software to document and record network assets and maintain inventory.
  • Proficiency in use of Google Earth to create and/or manage KMZ files and SHP files.
  • Experience creating and implementing standards and processes and producing corresponding documentation.
  • A detail-oriented self-starter who can work independently on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with outside and inside plant fiber construction principles.
  • Willingness to learn about new technologies, architecture and/or to support and learn new software packages as required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office-Suite, including Visio.

Nice To Haves

  • Wireless network and/or building fiber riser experience preferred.
  • Experience utilizing multiple GIS platforms.
  • Experience with drafting software packages such as AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and enforce uniform naming conventions for outside and inside plant fiber and wireless infrastructure and ancillary equipment that is built and owned or accessible via IRU by ConnectALL across the state.
  • Document physical attributes of the infrastructure, including but not limited to location, equipment profiles, contract terms.
  • Create and maintain digital records of outside plant fiber routes, inside plant infrastructure as well as fixed wireless assets.
  • Represent physical attributes of the infrastructure with an understanding of the technical details and ownership of cable, fixed wireless equipment, physical vertical structures, cell tower assets, and regeneration/building location and floor plans.
  • Assign and manage network connectivity and/or lower-level circuit level records and routing detail of shelf, card, port, panel and strand usage.
  • Interpret “as built” drawings, site survey records and/or spreadsheets for records inventory.
  • Create splice and/or one-line diagrams in support of network deployments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
