The Network Administrator, Intern supports the Network Engineering team in maintaining and troubleshooting client network, voice, firewall, and security environments. This role is responsible for assisting with ticket resolution, documentation updates, basic testing, and operational support to ensure service quality, customer satisfaction, and adherence to defined service standards in a managed services environment.

Requirements

  • College coursework in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited institution preferred.
  • In lieu of a degree, a 1:1 ratio applies (one year of relevant education equals one year of related experience).
  • Customarily has at least one year of exposure to technical support, service desk operations, or IT infrastructure environments.
  • Exposure to client-facing support or internal stakeholder interaction preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to or completion of coursework related to Cisco role-based certifications, A+, Network+, or Security+ preferred.
  • Familiarity with documenting technical processes using tools such as Microsoft Visio or equivalent is a plus.
  • Experience troubleshooting Windows and macOS operating systems, Microsoft Office applications, remote access tools, voice systems, cloud platforms, or networking concepts preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support Network Engineers in resolving service desk tickets related to networks, voice systems, firewalls, Microsoft Teams Voice, and security.
  • Triage, assign, and work on tickets in alignment with established service level expectations.
  • Troubleshoot and manage Tier 1 and select Tier 2 client incidents and service requests in a service desk environment.
  • Update and maintain technical documentation related to network, voice, firewall, and security environments.
  • Develop new documentation for network, voice, firewall, or application rollouts and implementations as assigned.
  • Perform network, voice, firewall, and application testing under guidance from senior technical staff.
  • Respond to security alerts received from security vendors, designated security engineers, or network leadership.
  • Assist in generating project and operational status reports.
  • Perform basic project coordination and administrative support activities as required.
  • Adhere to Synoptek operational standards, security policies, and client confidentiality requirements.
