About The Position

Grain Inspector nspects parts visually and measures grain angles using laue X-ray. Parts are dispositioned for accept /reject using parts specific work instructions. conforming parts are moved to next routed operation and nonconforming parts are sent to MRB for further disposition by engineering and grain level 3.

Requirements

  • Laue Level I and II Certification is required to perform this function.
  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic arithmetic and geometry.
  • Ability to interpret drawings.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must pass near vision-JAEGER Type No. 1 test and Color Perception test.
  • Must be able to maintain certification with periodic testing per industry standards.

  • Due to government regulation only US persons (U.S. citizen, U.S. naturalized citizen, U.S. permanent resident, holder of U.S. approved political asylee or refugee status) may be considered for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Aligns castings on Laue unit.
  • Processes casting in accordance with approved Laue techniques.
  • Verifies grain structures are acceptable to required techniques.
  • Monitors working area to protect personnel. Performs daily equipment preparation and radiation safety inspections.
