About The Position

The NC Pre-K Lead Teacher will oversee classroom activities, adhering to standards set by the NC Division of Child Development and Early Education and aligning with the objectives of the current NC Pre-K Curriculum. This role involves creating a nurturing and positive environment for children and their families, fostering strong bonds and supporting comprehensive development. The teacher will design and execute learning experiences across developmental areas, conduct regular assessments to monitor progress towards School Readiness Goals, and tailor the curriculum to individual needs, including children with disabilities. Upholding health and safety protocols is paramount, ensuring a secure and clean environment by adhering to strict procedures for hygiene, food handling, illness management, and child supervision.

Requirements

  • Are at least 18 years old
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Have a minimum of one year's experience in preschool teaching
  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree
  • Be actively pursuing either NC Birth through Kindergarten (B-K) or Preschool Add-on Standard Professional II licensure
  • Qualifications must include one of the following: an NC Initial Provisional Lateral Entry B-K License, a North Carolina K-6 license with a provisional Preschool Add-on license, a license from another state accompanied by an NC Provisional B-K license, or a degree in a related field that qualifies you for an NC Initial Provisional Lateral Entry B-K License
  • Have genuine empathy and understanding of children's needs and development
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exhibit flexibility and adaptability to meet community needs and respond to changing circumstances
  • Capable of meeting the physical demands of working with children

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to strict procedures for hygiene, food handling, illness management, and child supervision
